profile
Since 1992, Michiyo (Michiyo Kaneda), a Japanese clay artist has been exhibiting clay artistry in New York, USA, after an extensive experience in TV and magazine production.
After returning to Japan in 1997, she established
“こねこねランド” [Conecone Land] to promote the beauty of clay art and since then has been creating clay art figurines for the openings of many popular TV programs, commercials, main visuals for events, picture books, as well as children’s products.
More than just art, she soon realised that clay art has a wonderful function as a tool for people to connect and interact. As a result, she began holding classes for both children and adults where the enthusiasts and likeminded can gather and enjoy crafting clay together.
She is actively promoting the use of clay, which has great potential as a medium to provide a time and place where people can explore, touch, play, be creative, and enjoy crafting clay art across Japan.
